Virtual Eating Disorder Support Program

Our eating disorder support program was developed as a multidisciplinary approach to support members of the community struggling with disordered eating and eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating disorder and Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED).

Our virtual program offers an easily accessible online learning program, as well as biweekly zoom meetings to offer structured education and informal group support to complement the online learning modules.

Our EDSG offers a supportive transition for clients moving from more intensive treatment to less intensive community-based care. Additionally, we support clients in the community as an initial step in treatment, aiming to prevent hospitalization and reduce the need for higher-level services. Our EDSG is open to all members of the community including rostered and non-rostered patients over the age of 12.

  • If you or someone you love is experiencing signs or symptoms of an eating disorder (significant weight changes, preoccupation with weight and size, preoccupation with food or calories, decrease in eating or skipping meals or following a rigid diet program, excessive exercising; laxative over-use, avoiding social gatherings especially ones centered around food, mood swings etc.), then our program may be the right next step to take to gain flexible, knowledgeable support from the comfort of your home.

Our online program also offers a free learning module for loved ones to learn how to best understand eating disorders, and support those working through recovery.

Our Team is comprised of a social worker, registered dietitian and nurse practitioner to offer a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to recovery.

  • Our priority is to see clients as quickly as possible. After submitting your referral, you can expect a call from our team within two weeks, at which time we will book you in with our dietitian and register you in the online learning platform. During this initial assessment our dietitian will evaluate if there is a need for additional referrals such as counselling and medical support.

After your appointment with the dietitian, she will register you to our online learning platform, which includes links to access educational topic zoom meetings once a month and support group zoom meetings once a month. There are five educational topics you can attend in the order that is convenient for you. Access to the online learning platform and zoom meetings is open to you for a year. The group meetings are facilitated by our interprofessional team of our registered dietitian, nurse practitioner and social worker.

Our online learning platform provides a multidisciplinary evidence-based approach. It is broken down into 5 topics, each one consisting of medical, nutritional and mental health information.

You can expect our team to be specialized in their field, supportive listeners, and punctual to meetings and classes in order to best support your journey towards recovery.

    • Regular attendance for scheduled appointments

    • A commitment to practicing learned techniques and strategies between sessions. This includes completing the online learning modules and exercises.

    • Active engagement and participation in group
